Last week, Wapiti Labs was featured on Lifetime Televisions's The Balancing Act. Hosted by renown Dr. Wendy Walsh, the daily television show focuses on women, careers, entertainment, family and lifestyle. The Telling Signs of Kidney Disease

Acute renal failure (ARF) is a result of a sudden insult to the kidneys and involves a lack of blood flow to the kidneys or ingestion of a toxin, such as antifreeze. Acute renal failure may be reversible with treatment depending on the cause and duration of insult.
Chronic renal failure (CRF) occurs over a longer time period and it is progressive and irreversible. CRF can be caused by the normal aging process, a continuation of the ARF cause, immune disorders, inflammation or infectious causes, hereditary or congenital disorders, amyloidosis, neoplasia, outflow obstructions or due to unknown causes.
Signs of renal failure appear when approximately 75% of the nephrons in both kidneys are no longer functioning. CRF can affect any age of pet and it is a leading cause of death of dogs and cats, with one in three elderly cats and one in five elderly dogs in the USA affected.
